about

At JALA, we design landscapes that feel as though they’ve always belonged- wild at heart, yet quietly and precisely composed.

Our gardens live on the edge of control: planting that drifts, seeds, and shifts over time, guided by a hand that knows when to step back. This is not about imposing order, but about revealing the innate character of a place- the genius loci- and letting it speak through texture, movement, and light.

We work across scales, from intimate courtyards to sweeping rural properties, shaping spaces that evolve as living systems rather than static arrangements. Every design is rooted in its setting, celebrating Australia’s rich ecologies while carrying a distinct personal imprint.

Our process is collaborative and deeply site-specific. We draw on robust, seasonally expressive planting and materials that weather with dignity, creating landscapes that feel both grounded and alive. These are gardens made to be inhabited, cherished, and allowed to grow into themselves—where human intent meets nature’s improvisation.

We believe the most memorable landscapes are not over-managed- they are carefully choreographed, then trusted to dance.
